Co-Authors Demote Phrase 'Mom Entrepreneur

in New Book, Available Feb. 2

Olsen and co-author Flesché Hesch explain why the trendy term is outdated and provide tips for starting a business, managing family and building a support system in 2016

SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 02, 2016) – Two women are on a mission to eliminate a phrase that yields 15 million search results on Google: mom entrepreneur. Rachel Olsen, Founder, Best Mom Products digital magazine and Flesché Hesch, Business Consultant and Founder, The Bizy Mom announce the release of their co-authored book, Odd Mom Entrepreneur Out: Eliminate Guilt, Grow Your Business and Elevate Your Life available on Amazon.com Feb. 2, 2016.

This collaborative book -- which encourages a shift in the family and work support system so that mom entrepreneurs are simply entrepreneurs -- includes insights of 11 business influencers and provides how-to steps in starting a business and managing family. Topics include:

  • Motherhood:
    • Time Management Tips
    • Money and Marriage
    • Financial Planning
    • Self-Care
    • Get Your Body Back after Baby
  • Business:
    • Accountability
    • Create Information Products (i.e.) books, online courses
    • Evaluate Mom Friendly Businesses
    • Identify if your Idea is Financially Viable
    • Create buzz through Public Relations and Social Media
    • How to get into Retail Stores

“The name of the book came from the reality of where we are in society with accepting moms in dual roles of running a successful business and family,”shares co-author Flesché Hesch. “By drawing attention to it, we hope to make the phrase mom entrepreneur obsolete in the future while acknowledging how support systems must change in order to have happy, healthy and thriving families.”

According to the National Women’s Business Council, the number of women-owned firms has grown 68 percent since 2007, compared with 47 percent for all businesses.

“With celebrity mom entrepreneurs Jessica Alba paving the way with The Honest Company, Reese Witherspoon starting Draper James and movies like JOY showing the realities of what it takes to start an empire and manage family, we are now seeing that reflection in mainstream media,”adds co-author Rachel Olsen.

ENTERTAINMENT: With movies like JOY getting so much buzz and celebs like Reese Witherspoon starting Draper James and success stories like Jessica Alba's Honest Company... mom entrepreneurs are becoming the norm. Why do we distinguish them as "moms" and what does it take to successfully manage a family and create an empire?  There's now a start-up book called Odd Mom Entrepreneur Out that provides expert tips to eliminate guilt, grow your business and elevate your life.

ENTREPRENEUR/SMALL BUSINESS: According to the National Women’s Business Council, the number of women-owned firms has grown 68 percent since 2007, compared with 47 percent for all businesses. With February being National Women Inventor's Month, the new book Odd Mom Entrepreneur Out creates awareness for women Founders and shares insights and advice from 11 business experts in how you can eliminate guilt, grow your business and elevate your life.  This how-to guide includes how to determine if your idea is valuable to having the money and marriage conversation with your partner to creating buzz for your business to building an online course or writing and marketing a book among others.

ENTREPRENEUR JUDGING: While mom judging has become so out of control that celebs like Mila Kunis are starring in movies like Moms Gone Wild, 2 authors are bringing attention to entrepreneur judging.

  • When "friends" make comments like “I admire you but I could never do what you’re doing.  I want to be there for my kids."
  • When family members say things like "“Wow, that baby blanket business sure is a good idea.  Do you think now is the right time?”
  • Equally harmful, you're judged by the type of start-up you are (ie) tech vs. baby product vs. blog empire vs. Stella + Dot.

You have to overcome the naysayers and persevere with your dream but how do you do that exactly? Well, the authors of the new book Odd Mom Entrepreneur Out provide expert tips to eliminate guilt, grow your business and elevate your life.

TECHNOLOGY -- The Catalyst for Mom Entrepreneurs: We are at a time in our society where technology has created opportunities for moms to research, create and run global businesses online at any time of day. The accessibility of the 24/7 internet, being able to connect and build authentic relationships through social media and flexibility of schedule has provided the opportunity for moms to connect with each other and learn how to make a living doing what they love just by sharing it with like-minded tribes. While technology has thrust us forward and women are starting businesses at a higher rate than ever before in history, the roles in the traditional family have largely remained.  The experts in the new book Odd Mom Entrepreneur Out share their tips on how they make their business and family run more efficiently through technology.
